So here it is everyone. The holiday season is upon us. And while fro most that means more time with family and friends, for me it means...more time with work. I know this is sad, but with a day job and a night/weekend job in retail; this is exactly what happens. Mix that with everything else going on in my life and well it's basically too much to handle. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to have a lovely Thanksgiving, which I would deem a great start to the holiday season. It was small, but I have no problems with that, since I was fortunate in who was there. I was also lucky enough to have a "Friendsgiving," which took place a week earlier with some of the greatest friends around. Not to sound trite, but I am pretty lucky.
Now, I can finally switch modes into my favorite time of year. Christmas time. I love everything about it. I love the music, the food, wrapping presents, seeing all my friends and family, giving gifts, receiving gifts(I'm not gonna lie here) and everything else that the season encompasses. And yes, I realized that I mentioned mostly materialistic things there, but I get the true meaning of Christmas and appreciate that. That being said, everyone knows I love anything shiny...so this is really my holiday.
As I'm sitting here writing this for all of you to read, I'm actually using this blog as an awesome vehicle to promote procrastination. That is since most of what I need to do does not involve me sitting on the couch and in front of a computer, much less. For the moment, I needed a few days of reprieve from retail, since not only do I work in it, but I have been buying things at a frantic rate. I'm also afraid that my buying is skewed and someone will be ending up with 68 billion presents and someone else...2. I know, there is an easy solution, which is just looking at all my purchases, however, that would require me to stop using my car like the greatest storage solution known to man. At any given time over the past couple weeks, I've been rolling around town with about $300-$400 worth of goods in my car. Oops.
So my first holiday like festivity is coming up this Friday and this is one more thing I am not yet prepared for. My friends and I are doing a Pollyanna, at one of my friend's grandmother's house. So this is a few gifts worth of time right here. I have gift bags for all friends present that night (10 goody bags..check) and then a gift for my friend's grandmother and most importantly, my Pollyanna's gift. None of this is complete yet, though at least I have some of the components in the my car...Also, I think I promised I would cook something to bring over. What is wrong with me that I would make all these promises? I really can't say.
Regardless of how busy I may be, I have to admit that I really do love the holidays and have even had some lovely holiday experiences already. In addition to Black Friday shopping, yesterday I was downtown and saw the Christmas Village. I also managed to sneak in watching the lights show at Macy's and I have to say, it just made me smile. So please excuse my sporadic posting, which is probably only going to get worse. But at least I am forewarning you and also have a good reason this time.
