the cult of over-accessorizing

I'm guilty today.  In an effort to use all my things and wear make-up and feel like a normal human being; I got a little carried away today.  I was in full bling mode....for work.  That's right. I felt like the big tree at Rockefeller Center.  I had earrings , necklaces, bracelet and rings.  If you can wear it...I certainly did.  Normally, I can handle a little editing, but today apparently it was just too much for me.  At least I'm sticking to my resolve and keeping up with what I intended to do? I would have included a picture, but I? didn't want to blind anyone.  More to come.

Month 1: New Years Resolve Check-In

So we're about a month into 2012 and I had made quite a few New Years Resolutions for myself.  I figure a monthly check-in regarding them is probably a solid way for me to keep myself in check.  Even if it's not the best way to reinforce my resolve, maybe I will be able to guilt myself back into sticking with my New Years resolutions if I do stray.  So now, for the run down of the resolutions/goals for 2012:

  1. Get Organized/Purge and get rid of all of my excess belongings.
  2. Lose Weight
  3. Stop biting my nails
  4. Spend less (see excess belongings issue)
And here are my updates:

Getting Organized/Purging: This one is difficult for me.  It's taking a long time, but I do believe, I'm getting. Thank God. And even though this is taking me an ungodly long amount of time, I'm somehow okay with that since I am still moving forward with it.  I'm also not half-assing it and throwing everything into closets or drawers. I'm actually getting rid of things and putting the keepers where they belong.  Along with this, come using the products I've already bought before buying more/new things.  This again is no small tast (especially if you see what I've amassed over the years), but I'm getting there.  Also, I'm tossing in some redecorating-type stuff in there too.  It's just nice to update what you have, and fortunately I've been able to do this at almost no cost; just moving a few things around here and there and it seems like a new space.

Lose Weight: This is one where I always struggle yet again, and somehow, this time it's working.  I've lost 8 pounds in just under 3 weeks, and while that may not seem like much, I'll more than willingly take it.  I've been using Livestrong to help me along.  This site has some really nice tools/features that are definitely time savers/big helps.   So this is going well...hopefully this trend will continue.

Stop Biting my nails: Currently my nails are the longest they have been....ever.  So this is super exciting.  I have also rediscovered my love of nail polish. It's fun.

Spend Less: I'm failing at this.  Not miserably; but definitely not succeeding.  More to come on this matter.

But overall, I would say that I am actually proud of myself and making positive changes in my life.  Hopefully they will all stay as well and not just be phases I go through.  Only time will tell though.
